Fans of the Green Bay Packers were starting to get worried over their beloved team's performance over the course of the past few weeks, and for good reason.
Last week's loss against the Detroit Lions marked the first time the team had lost three consecutive games in the Aaron Rodgers era, which dates back to 2008. Sunday's performance against the Minnesota Vikings, who held the top spot in the NFC North prior to the matchup, put many Packers' fans worries to rest.
The Packers were led by none other than Aaron Rodgers, who threw the ball for 212 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Despite the fact that Rodgers put up his worst completion percentage of the season (47.1 percent), he was able to shine in key moments of the game
He threw a pinpoint touchdown pass to James Jones in the beginning of the fourth quarter (including a masterful two-point conversion to Jones ) to put the Packers up by 14 points, effectively putting the game out of reach for Minnesota from that point on. Rodgers is clearly an every week QB1.
To call Eddie Lacy a disappointment this year would be a gross understatement. Lacy, who some had predicted prior to the season to be the top overall player in fantasy, has not lived up to expectations, failing to crack the 100 yard threshold in any game prior to Sunday's matchup, and lost his starting job to James Starks a couple weeks ago as a result of his lackluster play.
Despite the adversity Lacy has faced this year, he broke out for his best game of the season on Sunday, running for 100 yards, and adding a reception for six yards. Lacy received the bulk of the carries on Sunday, rushing the ball 22 times, to Starks's eight times. Lacy looked like the Lacy of old, running with patience and hitting the holes with authority.
Though Lacy's performance on Sunday is encouraging, it is hard to predict whether or not he will be able to sustain this in the coming weeks. Lacy is a borderline RB2 play at best at this point, as a result of the unknown nature of the amount of carries he will receive on a weekly basis.
