ANALYSIS: Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones didn’t have the regular season fantasy players had hoped for in 2023. He was the RB37 for the year, averaging 10.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. After struggling with injuries most of the season, the veteran running back ended the year playing well.
He averaged 14.7 fantasy points per game over the final three weeks, scoring 13.5 or more in every contest despite not finding the end zone. Jones had at least 20 rushing attempts for 111 yards in every game. The Packers are in the playoffs after their Week 18 victory over the Chicago Bears. Their first-round matchup will face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon.
The Cowboys held running backs to 18.3 fantasy points per game during the regular season, the seventh-fewest in the NFL. While Jones has an unappealing matchup to start the playoffs, he played well against two talented run defenses to end the regular season.
More importantly, AJ Dillon is unlikely to play with thumb and neck injuries, meaning Jones should see most of the backfield workload in this game. He is an appealing option for fantasy players this weekend in playoff matchups and DFS.
