BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones has been one of the biggest busts in fantasy football this season. The running back entered the year with high expectations. He has been only the RB44, averaging 9.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. While he has missed six games because of injuries, Jones has struggled on the field.
The running back has scored fewer than nine fantasy points in 75% of the games this season, including three straight. Last week, Jones returned after missing three contests because of a knee injury, totaling 53 rushing yards and 8.9 fantasy points.
Jones was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice because of knee and finger injuries. However, fantasy players should expect the running back to play this week after suiting up in the Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy players couldn’t have asked for a better matchup for the veteran this week. The Carolina Panthers have surrendered 23.9 fantasy points per game to running backs, the third-most in the NFL. Running backs have had at least one rushing touchdown against the Panthers in 78.6% of the games this year.
While Bijan Robinson had negative fantasy points against Carolina in Week 15, that had more to do with Arthur Smith’s awful coaching than the matchup. Fantasy players should expect a solid performance from Jones, especially if AJ Dillon doesn’t play.
