BALLER MOVE: Target ~ 120 or waiver wire pickup (Current ADP: 139 or undrafted , WR: 62)
ANALYSIS: Aaron Dobson spent a good part of his rookie season dealing with a nagging foot injury (stress fracture) which he addressed with surgery this off season. As he seems to finally be getting healthy in the last weeks before the season begins, he could represent some serious late round / waiver wire value in fantasy leagues. Drafted by the Patriots in the 2nd round of the 2013 draft, most people are unfairly viewing him in 2014 as the 4th string wide receiver behind the likes of Edelman, Amendola, and Thompkins. While his preseason recovery and lack of playing time last year have kept him off the radar, Dobson's skills and play making abilities show that he is capable of being a top receiver in this New England offense. He displayed a sample of this last year when healthy in his 130 yard, 2 TD game.
If Dobson can make a full recovery, he can easily overtake Thompkins and Amendola to be the #2 or #3 target in this passing game. A starting WR with huge upside and Tom Brady as his QB is exactly the type of player I want to stash on my bench in the early weeks of the season. Also, his foot looked pretty healthy when he was catching this touchdown in the final preseason game last Thursday night.
