Alex Rodriguez celebrated the big 4 0 with a homer as the New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Monday.
It was the 24th blast of the season for the Yankees DH as well as his sixth on his birthday over his MLB career. Rodriguez has been on fire lately, hitting nine dingers over his last 15 games. On Saturday, he nailed three homeruns. He sat out Sunday but picked up right where he left off during Monday’s game.
His RBI total is now at 59 while he sports a .276/.373/.543 batting line on the season for the AL East first place Yankees.
Rodriguez missed all of last season due to a suspension. This season has gone better for A-Rod than anybody could have expected.
“I am going to continue to work hard. I thought April was going to be my most challenging month,’’ Rodriguez told The New York Post. “I was hoping to get better and that happened. But it also is a nice reminder to me if you play clean and work hard that good things will happen.’’
