The British can be quite stuck up at times. I should know, I am one of them. One of my personal pet peaves is having the greatest golf tournament in the world described as the British Open. Excuse me Sir, this is the Open Championship. And it is wonderful to say that it returns to the home of golf at St. Andrews on the East Coast of Scotland starting in the early hours of the morning EST this Thursday.
The weather can always be a critical factor at these events and expect four days of clouds with minimum 15 mph winds. Friday seems to have rain written all over it and winds increasing to 25 mph, quite manageable for the professionals but nevertheless a bit of luck with the draw can also play its part.

The name on everyone's lips this week will of course be Jordan Spieth and whilst his odds for a third Major Championship in a row are prohibitive they are not quite yet at the Tiger Woods range and so he has to be a realistic contender. One UK bookmaker is offering odds of 8/11 that he finishes in the top ten this week and this does sound like an exercise in printing money even though I am looking elsewhere for the Winner this week.
So where do we look for opportunities this week when playing in DraftKings Millionaire Maker? I would start with players that have demonstrated good form in the past around this golfing amphitheater and Louis Oosthuizen not only matches that criteria but has been in very impressive form recently having finally returned to full fitness. Justin Rose hits the ball long and straight and if he can get the putter firing he can also put together a challenge.
Surprisingly, my selection this week is the man who so nearly broke through at Chambers Bay, Dustin Johnson. If ever there was a golf course designed to suit someone's game then surely it is St. Andrews. I see DJ pounding the ball and making countless two putts from on or just off the greens for birdies and redemption on Sunday afternoon as he holds aloft the famous Claret Jug.
Outsiders....well Brooks Koepka is a future winner of a Major Championship in my opinion but Joost Luiten of the Netherlands is a player that has caught my eye lately with a good performance at the US Open and also last week at the Scottish Open. Look for Joost to be in the mix this weekend.
