BALLER MOVE: Deep League and Two Catcher League Add Only
OWNED IN: 22% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: A.J. Pierzynski has been a shot in the arm to the Braves so far this season. He's batting .377/.400/.604 with three home runs while only striking out at a incredibly impressive 5% rate. In fact, Pierzynski has been so good that the Braves have made him their cleanup hitter on days when he's in the lineup. This kind of production isn't sustainable, but that doesn't necessarily matter for a waiver wire target. Sometimes having a hot bat is enough.
The problem with Pierzynski is that he's stuck sharing time with Christian Bethancourt. No matter how hot his bat is, it's very difficult to justify spending a roster spot on a part time catcher in a standard league. For owners in leagues where the free agent pool is thinner, however, Pierzynski makes an interesting target for as long as his hot streak lasts.
