ANALYSIS: The Mavs are sitting in the fifth seed out West as I'm writing this and through Friday games. It's going to be hard to see them fall below the sixth-place and into the play-in, but they will also have it hard to jump the Jazz if we assume there won't be weird developments. One of the reasons Dallas righted its early wrongs has been Dorian Finney-Smith's improvement through the past month of play after going through a worrying slump in January.
Using DK's scoring system, DFS only topped 21 fantasy points in a single game three times in January for a month-average of just 21.3 FPPG. That figure has gone up a bit to nearly 24 FPPG in the past month, which is a good thing and paints a brighter picture for his fantasy GMs going forward. DFS has played four games after the break averaging a nice 14-6-2 per-game line while shooting 63%+ from the floor in those four matches.
Getting back a bit further, it's been six games in a row for DFS shooting above 55% on 8 FGA a pop. The volume and the usage are ridiculously low being part of a starting lineup in which a certain Luka--just to name one player--is definitely a better offensive weapon. DFS does what he's asked for nightly, though, and has averaged 3 3PM per game in the past six matches while keeping possession of the rock (0.6 TOPG) and contributing nice rebounding (5.5 RPG) and dimes (two in each of the past three games) while at it.
