Could Cowboys Move On From Amari Cooper?
3 years agoWhen discussing the future of his team, Dallas Cowboys COO Stephen Jones (son of Jerry Jones) suggested that the team is continuing to have conversation about what to do with wide receiver Amari Cooper's contract. The veteran is owed $20 million in 2022, a number that is fully guaranteed if he remains on the team after March 21st. However, if the Cowboys cut or trade him before that date, they would save $16 million under the cap, which could be huge for a team with little financial wiggle room. There are some reports that suggest the Cowboys could re-sign wide receiver Cedrick Wilson to fill Cooper's role if they were to move on from the veteran, so while nothing is set in stone, this is certainly a situation to monitor.
