Shohei Ohtani Worthy Of A Top-Five Pick?
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani had an eye-popping breakout season in 2021. Offensively, he slashed .257/.372/.592 with 46 home runs, 26 stolen bases, 100 RBI and 103 runs. On the mound, he went 9-2 with a 3.18 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 156 strikeouts. As things currently stand, the reigning AL MVP has an ADP in the late first round/early second round. There's a strong chance that he builds off of his 2021 campaign and outperforms his current draft slot. In fact, just repeating last year's feat would make him worthy of a top-five pick. Ohtani's a very format-dependent player. If you play in a daily-lock league where you can utilize him as either a hitter or pitcher depending on his status each day, then he's even more valuable.
