Below you will find our fantasy football injuries report for running backs in Week 17. The injury statuses for various NFL running backs are up in the air for Week 17 including Dalvin Cook, Austin Ekeler, Derrick Henry, Cam Akers and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
With the fantasy football championship week upon us, and NFL teams fighting for their own playoff positions, these are some key running back injuries to keep track of throughout the week.
Dalvin Cook Injury Update
After going on the COVID-19 list and missing last week's game, Dalvin Cook was officially activated off the COVID-19 list on Wednesday. He is expected to play in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers, and is of course a must-start for fantasy football managers in the championship game.
Austin Ekeler Injury Update
Similarly to Cook, Austin Ekeler was placed on the COVID-19 last week and was forced to miss the game. On Wednesday he was officially removed from the COVID list, and is expected to make his return in Week 17 against the Broncos. Justin Jackson had a very strong game filling in last week, but Ekeler is the lead back and should obviously be started in all fantasy lineups.
Derrick Henry Injury Update
Derrick Henry has been out since Week 8 after breaking his foot, and there were reports that he may be able to return for the NFL playoffs -- or even sooner. While he won't be returning in Week 17 for the fantasy football championship weekend, it sounds like he may make it back for Week 18 to get some work in. Most leagues won't be playing in Week 18, but if yours does then be sure to keep tabs on this.
Cam Akers Injury Update
Cam Akers has had an incredible road to recovery after tearing his Achilles in the preseason, and was surprisingly activated from IR last week. After Darrell Henderson Jr. injured his knee in Week 16 and was placed on IR, there are reports that Akers will actually play this week against the Ravens. He likely won't have a significant role in Week 17 even if he plays, so fantasy football managers should temper expectations.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update
After leaving last week's game with a shoulder injury, Clyde Edwards-Helaire was not able to practice on Wednesday. While he hasn't officially been ruled out for Week 17, and there's a chance that he can play this week, it seems unlikely already:
On the flip side, Darrel Williams has been extremely productive for the Chiefs and fantasy football managers whenever CEH has missed time this year. Fantasy managers will surely want to start him in Week 17 if CEH is out:
