Chase Daniel Lands On COVID-19 List
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Chase Daniel was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday. Daniel is the backup to second-year signal-caller Justin Herbert in Los Angeles, and he hasn't attempted a single pass on five offensive snaps for the Bolts this year. If Daniel cannot get cleared in time for the Week 16 game against the Houston Texans, Easton Stick would be in line to hold the clipboard on the sidelines this weekend. Herbert's fantasy managers will keep their fingers crossed that he wasn't a close contact of Daniel.

Chase Daniel Backs Up Easton Stick, Throws TD Against Cowboys
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Chase Daniel completed 13 of his 21 attempts for 111 yards and a touchdown during their 32-18 loss against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. Daniel began their Week 1 game against the Rams as the starter but backed up his teammate Easton Stick in this one. His final numbers were comparable to Stick's, plus he did not commit any turnovers while Stick committed two. It's unknown at this moment who will get the nod next week against the Saints and who is the current leader to be the backup for star quarterback Justin Herbert. This is likely a decision the coaching staff will wait until after the team's final preseason game.

Chase Daniel Tosses Two Touchdowns Against Rams
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers backup quarterback Chase Daniel completed 11 of his 17 pass attempts for 117 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions during Saturday's 29-22 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Daniel was in command of an offense that was missing most of its starters. His touchdown throws included an accurate 41-yard strike to wide receiver Joe Reed and a short three-yard dump-off that receiver Michael Bandy took the remaining thirteen yards to the house. While he doesn't figure to see any regular season action, barring injury, it's beneficial to know that he could sustain the fantasy value of the Chargers' superstars, at least temporarily, should anything happen to Justin Herbert.

Chase Daniel Returns To Chargers
3 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers re-signed veteran quarterback Chase Daniel to a one-year, $2.25 million deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Daniel will return in 2022 to back up impressive young quarterback Justin Herbert. The 35-year-old Daniel played in just one game last year and didn't attempt a single pass. He hasn't started a game in the NFL since he made one start for the Chicago Bears in 2019. Daniel began his career in 2010 with the New Orleans Saints and has made just five career starts over 12 seasons with the Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Bears, Detroit Lions and Chargers. The Bolts are hoping he won't have to start any games in 2022.
