ANALYSIS: With the many absences that the Philadelphia 76ers have had to endure so far, windows of opportunity have been open at times for younger Sixers like Isaiah Joe, Paul Reed, and (most recently) rookie Charles Bassey. The 53rd overall pick in the 2021 Draft out of Western Kentucky University, Bassey is a uniquely skilled player of 6'11, 235-lb., evidenced by his 87 blocked shots and 18 for 59 (30.5%) three-point shooting through 28 games in the final season of his decorated career with the Hilltoppers.
Out of necessity, Bassey has received about 43 minutes of playing time over the last three games, and while he has yet to convert on a shot from deep, he has been shooting 68.8% from the field, 71.4% from the free throw line, while putting up 7.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game; with his best outing coming in a 19-MP evening against the Nuggets when he compiled 12 points, seven boards, one steal, and three blocks. Much like teammates Reed and Matisse Thybulle, Charles Bassey is just another limited window of opportunity away from putting up another stretch of specialized production, and his shot-blocking capabilities mixed with his well-rounded offensive skillset makes him an option of intrigue in deeper formats.
