BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 34% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: If you know anything about New Orleans, that's 1) that WR Michael Thomas was going to miss a bunch of games and ultimately opted out of the season entirely, and 2) that starting QB and fantasy deity Jameis Winston got more than banged up a few weeks ago and will also miss the second half of the season entirely. Those are contrasting things when it comes to making you want (or not) to roster/start Marquez Callaway, but the truth is that the wideout has kept up some reasonably good numbers (given the expectations and environment) and he's more than worth a roster spot in deeper formats.
Callaway's first two games of the year were truly a nightmare for fantasy GMs having the WR in their rosters. Forget about those. We're here for post-W2 Callaway, and that player has actually been an 11.9 PPR-point average at the position for the Saints. Not bad, that is. Callaway has finished one game as a top-12 WR, three more as a high-end WR3, and he's reached 9.4+ PPR points in five of the last seven games.
Callaway has racked up 43 targets and 24 receptions on the season while getting 5+ looks in five of his nine matches. Not that he needs much more, though: Callaway has scored five TDs on the year and that's tied for the 11th-most this year. Of course, no wide receiver has been more efficient/lucky than Callaway at scoring touchdowns (DeAndre Hopkins has 7 TD on 49 targets; Randall Cobb has 4 TD on 23 receptions). It's also been back-to-back games for Callaway hitting 11.5 and 11.7 similar scores and scoring one TD each time. Sound option for those hurting for receivers in deeper leagues with more than enough upside to playing to WR3 levels weekly--and chances for a WR2 finish.
