3 years agoSeattle Seahawks tight end Gerald Everett has remained mostly quiet this year, but he could have some upside in a matchup in Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers. Everett has seen more than just three targets in just one game this season, and he hasn't found the end zone since Week 1. This week, quarterback Russell Wilson (finger) will be back, and Everett is facing a defense that is giving up the 12th-most PPR points to opposing tight ends this season. Green Bay has given up four receiving touchdowns to opposing tight ends, and Wilson likes to look for tight ends down in the red zone. Everett needs to find the end zone to really have some fantasy value this week, but he could be worthy of a TE2 flier in deeper leagues.--Gage Bridgford - RotoBaller

1 month agoThe Athletic's Kevin Fishbain writes that it's hard to see Chicago Bears tight end Gerald Everett sticking around in 2025 to be part of new head coach Ben Johnson's offense after he fell into the team's No. 2 TE role behind Cole Kmet in 2024. Everett signed a two-year, $12 million contract last offseason and caught just eight of 13 targets for a career-low 36 yards and no touchdowns in 17 games (four starts). The 30-year-old veteran carries a $6.5 million salary cap hit for the 2025 season and only $1 million in dead money if he's cut. Everett played in just three snaps in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the Green Bay Packers. Heading into his age-31 season, Everett is unlikely to attract much interest on the open market if he's cut, although he did have at least 408 receiving yards in five straight seasons before joining the Bears.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

8 months agoChicago Bears tight end Gerald Everett is being activated from the non-injury football list on Monday according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN. The former Charger is getting activated just in time for the start of training camp as he'll go up against Cole Kmet and Marcedes Lewis for his spot on the depth chart this year. The Bears put a lot of weapons in the passing game surrounding rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, so Everett will have a much tougher time racking up enough stats to be fantasy-relevant compared to last year.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBaller

8 months agoThe Chicago Bears placed veteran tight end Gerald Everett (undisclosed) on the Non-Football Injury list on Friday. The Bears didn't give a specific injury for Everett, but he did injure his knee in the Week 18 regular-season finale with the Los Angeles Chargers. The 30-year-old is now in Chicago in 2024 and will serve as a backup at the position behind Cole Kmet when he's healthy, which will make him unattractive in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. The former second-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 has only gone over 500 receiving yards once in his career and has never scored more than four touchdowns in a single season, so his upside was already limited. In 15 games (12 starts) for the Bolts last year, Everett hauled in 51 of his 70 targets for 411 yards and three touchdowns. It remains to be seen if Everett will even be ready for the start of the regular season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 year agoThe Chicago Bears have agreed to undisclosed terms with veteran free-agent tight end Gerald Everett on Tuesday, according to a source. Everett is heading into his age-30 season in 2024 and is coming off a year in which he caught a modest 51 passes on 70 targets for 411 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his second season with the Los Angeles Chargers in 15 games (12 starts). With the move to Chicago, where he's expected to play second fiddle to Cole Kmet, Everett can no longer be considered in the TE1 grouping in fantasy. In his seven-year career, Everett has never had more than 58 receptions, 478 yards or four touchdowns in a single season. There's basically no upside here for fantasy managers, especially with Chicago expected to be using a rookie quarterback in 2024. UPDATE: Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Everett will receive a two-year, $12 million base value deal from the Bears with a maximum value up to $14 million that includes $6.1 million fully guaranteed.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
