Frank Kaminsky is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 5 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 35% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Tank named Frank is most definitely not the guy predestined to win you the league, no matter the format. That said, though, Kaminsky is doing his best to hand his fantasy GMs some goodies on a daily basis. Not a single start this season, yes, but his main competition in JaVale McGee isn't playing as many minutes even having started the last four games for the Suns.
All of these news about both McGee starting and Kaminsky playing 27+ minutes on a per-game basis are obviously possible only because of Deandre Ayton's leg injury keeping him out of commission. Ayton was out Friday, and I have read no news of him coming back yet. Kaminsky came back on Nov. 2 and since then he's played six games through Saturday averaging a 14-4-2-1-1 line in those six outings. JaVale is putting up a couple more boards, but also fewer points on worse (and lower volume) shooting percentages.
Kaminsky is going to stay the no. 1 Ayton backup when he's back, no matter McGee's acquisition this past summer or any other development taking place in PHX. While the outcomes will undoubtedly vary from one night to the next one, you can count on Kaminsky as a steady source of points, rebounds, and blocks with fantastic shooting percentages and the odd dime/steal--also, the turnovers are never topping one a game, so that's a positive for those in 9-cat leagues too.
