David Montgomery On Track To Practice This Week
3 years agoIt sounds as though Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery (knee) is on track to resume practicing this week, according to sources. Montgomery remains on Injured Reserve, however, and the Bears have yet to open up his 21-day practice window, so the expectation is that he won't return until after the team's Week 10 bye. Montgomery went down with an MCL sprain and was placed on IR in Week 5 on Oct. 9. Rookie Khalil Herbert has taken over this backfield from Damien Williams with Montgomery on the shelf, and it looks like Herbert will be the primary back for at least one more week this Monday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Montgomery will eventually handle the majority of the work in the backfield when he's ready, but Herbert has also played well enough to continue being involved.
