FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (10/29/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

freddie freeman fantasy baseball rankings MLB injury news DFS picks

Juan Carlos Blanco highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 10/29/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

We have a FanDuel single-game slate for Game 3 of the Astros-Braves World Series clash Friday night, meaning that normal roster positions are replaced by one MVP slot (accrues points at 2x rate), one STAR slot (accrues points at 1.5x rate) and three Utility spots (accrue points at normal rate).

There are no pitchers in the player pool, leaving us to solely focus on bats to target those arms with. Friday, the Astros’ Luis Garcia, who’s had his share of both highs and lows this postseason, and Ian Anderson, who’s been a much steadier force for the Braves, are on the hill with the series tied 1-1.

I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel single-game World Series slate on 10/29/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like DraftKings, and other sports.

FanDuel MVP Candidates (2x Points)

Freddie Freeman– vs. HOU ($9,000)

Freeman makes for an excellent left-handed bat to deploy against Luis Garcia, who’s allowed a 3.00 WHIP this postseason against the 19 left-handed hitters he’s faced. Garcia also allowed a .302 average and .374 wOBA to left-handed hitters on the road during the regular season, while Freeman posted a .327 average, .951 OPS and .403 wOBA against righties at home in 2021 and is hitting a solid .269 against that handedness this postseason.

Yordan Alvarez– at ATL ($9,500)

Braves starter Ian Anderson impressively held left-handed hitters to a .170 average and .220 wOBA at Truist Park this season, but Alvarez and his prodigious power are an exception to basically every rule. The lefty slugger posted a .278 average, .915 OPS and .384 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the road this season, and he’s hitting .400 against that handedness this postseason as well (22 plate appearances).

FanDuel STAR Candidates (1.5x Points)

Jose Altuve- at ATL ($8,000)

Altuve’s numbers against right-handed pitching this postseason are an interesting mixed bag – he’s posted just a .171 average, but he also owns a solid .725 OPS in that split thanks to three home runs. He’s also been better during the playoffs on the road (.250 average, 1.000 OPS) than at home (.167, .669, respectively), while Anderson was at least somewhat hittable by right-handed hitters at home this season (.243 BAA, .309 wOBA). Altuve’s power upside keeps him in the conversation for this spot, as does his four tallies of 24.9 FD points or more in the postseason.

Austin Riley – vs. HOU ($6,000)

It’s surprising to see a player of this caliber sporting such a bargain basement salary, but this discounted version of Riley is largely the byproduct of a somewhat underwhelming postseason where he’s posted a .245 average and .288 OBP. However, Riley still has respectable .429 slugging percentage in that split thanks in large part to five of his 12 hits going for extra bases, and his ability to break out and blow this salary away is above question. Most of Garcia’s issues have come against lefty bats, but Riley has a .368 average in 21 plate appearances at home this postseason and posted a .348 wOBA overall there during the regular season.

FanDuel Utility Candidates

Carlos Correa – at ATL ($7,500)

Correa posted a .293 average, .846 OPS and .361 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the road this season, and although he’s been mired in a slump for most of the playoffs, he’s too talented a hitter not to break out with at least a multi-hit effort at some point. His salary also accounts for his recent struggles, making him an intriguing tournament option in particular.

Eddie Rosario – vs. HOU ($7,000)

Rosario is another left-handed Braves bat that can be deployed against Garcia based on his aforementioned struggles against that handedness. The veteran also hit .277 and posted a .946 OPS in 93 plate appearances against right-handed pitching during the regular season after joining the Braves, and he boasts a blistering .419 average, 1.148 OPS, two homers and 10 RBI  in 34 PAs against righties this postseason.

Jorge Soler – vs. HOU ($6,500)

Soler is another power-hitting option that can be deployed against Garcia if he’s in the lineup, despite the fact he hits from the right side. The slugger crushed right-handed pitching to the tune of a .289 average, .890 OPS and nine homers in 175 plate appearances after joining the Braves and could pay off his minuscule salary with one swing. If Soler hits the bench in the NL park, consider the switch-hitting Ozzie Albies as an alternative, as listed below.

ALSO CONSIDER: Ozzie Albies ($7,500)
