3 years agoFree-agent wide receiver Devin Smith is signing with the Carolina Panthers practice squad on Wednesday, according to a source. The former New York Jets second-rounder recently spent time with the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars, whom he played seven offensive snaps with in Week 1. Rookie first-rounder Terrace Marshall Jr. (concussion) is in danger of missing another game in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons, so there's a chance that Carolina calls Smith up to the active roster this weekend. However, the 29-year-old pass-catcher will just be serving as receiving depth for now in Carolina and will be a long shot to carve out any type of significant role in this offense.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
