Marcus Stroman A Target For The Padres?
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman is set to become a free agent this offseason. After a stellar 2021 campaign where he led the majors with 33 starts and posted a 3.02 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, he will be one of the top veteran starters on the market. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the San Diego Padres are likely to pursue a veteran starter this offseason. Stroman has been one of the main pitchers tied to the team in the early-going of the offseason rumor mill. The Padres have a deep rotation already with Blake Snell, Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove set to return next year and Mike Clevinger (elbow) set to make his comeback from Tommy John surgery. We'll see if they are able to entice Stroman to join their experienced rotation, but he'll most certainly have several other suitors.
