Albert Okwuegbunam Hits Injured Reserve
3 years agoDenver Broncos tight end Albert Okwuegbunam (hamstring) has been placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, ruling him out for at least the next three games. Taking his spot on the active roster will be cornerback Ronald Darby, who is coming off the IR with a hamstring injury of his own. Okwuegbunam's absence opens the door for either Eric Saubert or Andrew Beck to step into TE2 duties for the Broncos, although Noah Fant still stands to see the vast majority of targets for the position within the Denver offense. Okwuegbunam hauled in at least one reception in each of the Broncos' first four games, but he also saw his percentage of offensive snaps slide on a weekly basis. He will be eligible to return for Week 8 against Washington, but check back for updates to his status as they become available.

Eagles Re-Sign Albert Okwuegbunam To One-Year Deal
1 year agoThe Philadelphia Eagles re-signed tight end Albert Okwuegbunam to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Okwuegbunam was scheduled to become a free agent in March, but he'll stick around in Philadelphia for at least another season. The Denver Broncos' former fourth-round pick in 2020 out of Missouri landed with the Eagles before the 2023 campaign but failed to catch his only target in only four games last season. The 25-year-old finished the year on Injured Reserve due to a mysterious hamstring injury. With Dallas Goedert, Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra ahead of him on the depth chart, Albert O figures to be facing an uphill battle to make the regular-season roster out of training camp this summer.

Albert Okwuegbunam Placed On Injured Reserve
1 year agoPhiladelphia Eagles tight end Albert Okwuegbunam (hamstring) has been placed on the injured reserve ahead of the Week 17 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles acquired Okwuegbuam in August to help fill out their depth chart at tight end. The expectation is that Okwuegbunam could be a possible TE2 behind Dallas Goedert. However, it didn't turn out that way as Okwuegbunam only played in four games all season for Philadelphia. His absence won't have an impact on the Eagles offense. In a corresponding move, defensive back Avonte Maddox has been activated from the injured reserve.

Eagles Acquire Albert Okwuegbunam From Broncos
2 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles acquired tight end Albert Okwuegbunam and a seventh-round draft pick in 2025 from the Denver Broncos on Tuesday in exchange for a sixth-rounder in 2025, according to sources. The Broncos were set to waiver Okwuegbunam on Tuesday before finding a trade partner in the Eagles. The 25-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2020 out of Missouri was set for an elevated role in Denver last year, but it never materialized and he finished with a career-low 10 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown in eight games (one start). Albert O will now have a new opportunity to provide tight end depth in Philadelphia behind Dallas Goedert and will be battling with Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra for backup duties. Okwuegbunam remains well off the fantasy radar.

Broncos Waive Albert Okwuegbunam
2 years agoThe Denver Broncos waived tight end Albert Okwuegbunam on Tuesday, according to a source. Okwuegbunam had a great preseason finale on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Rams (seven catches, 109 yards and a TD) and a good final couple of weeks in training camp, but the Broncos are deep at the position this year with Adam Trautman, Greg Dulcich and Chris Manhertz. The 25-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2020 out of Missouri caught a career-low 10 passes on 18 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in just eight games (one start) in 2022 as he was phased out of the offense. Trautman and Dulcich are expected to be the team's two top tight ends in 2023, with Dulcich most likely operating as the No. 1 pass-catching target.
