Jose Abreu Sitting Out Season Finale
3 years agoChicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is not in the starting lineup for the team's season finale against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Andrew Vaughn is getting the start at first base and batting eighth in the game. Abreu played in 152 games this year and he slashed .261/.351/.481 with 30 home runs, 117 RBI and 86 runs. He ranked in the 96th percentile in max exit velocity (115.6 mph) and in the 89th percentile in hard-hit rate (49.3%). However, his .261 batting average and .249 xBA were the lowest marks of his career, down from .317 and .299, respectively, last season.
