ANALYSIS: It took Evan Engram three weeks to make his season debut but it finally took place on Sunday with the Giants facing the Falcons. The truth? Engram pretty much stank; can't argue about that. But that's not what is of interest here. What we should care about is the fact that 1) Engram is a bonafide starter at the tight end position, 2) the Giants will slowly but surely bring him into the offense, and 3) multiple Big Blue receivers went down injured in Week 3 or are--at least--banged up a bit.
Engram's stat-line was mediocre with the tight end catching 2 of his 6 targets on the day for 21 receiving yards and a fumble. It was a day to forget in which Engram could only score 2.1 PPR points. That being said, Engram got to play only 39 snaps (56% snap share) so he should have more chances going forward, and the targets were already high at 6, the third-most among all skill-position players of the Giants.
Golladay was playing injured on Sunday, while both Shepard and Slayton didn't even reach 25 snaps and had to leave the field early with their own injuries. We can expect rookie WR Kadarius Toney to get some more reps (he already played 66% of the team's snaps this past weekend) but with TE Kyle Rudolph a pass-catching afterthought (41% snap share, not a single target) Engram will start racking up opportunities and points whether he likes it or not.
