Marvin Jones Jr. A Viable WR3 In Week 3
4 years agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a quality WR3 play this week against the Arizona Cardinals. Jones has been by far the most consistent and productive wide receiver on the team through two weeks, and he and Trevor Lawrence seem to have developed a nice rapport. Lawrence will likely be airing it out again this week as well, as the Jaguars defense stands little chance at slowing down Kyler Murray and company. The volume and efficiency should be there for Jones, who has already been targeted 20 times and found the end zone twice this season. Overall, the veteran receiver is a solid WR3 option who should be in most lineups against an Arizona team that gave up 33 points to Minnesota last week.

Marvin Jones Jr. Stepping Away From Lions
1 year agoDetroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. announced on social media that he is stepping away from the team to take care of personal family matters. Jones didn't travel with the team to Baltimore to face the Ravens in Week 7 and will now be away from the team for the foreseeable future. The 33-year-old veteran had not seen much of a role in the offense through six games, catching five of his 10 targets for 35 yards. In Jones' absence, Jameson Williams and Kalif Raymond could be on the field a bit more behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds in Detroit's receiving corps. Fantasy managers that were stashing Jones in really deep leagues can go ahead and drop him now. UPDATE: The Lions released Jones on Tuesday.

Marvin Jones Jr. Ruled Out For Personal Reasons
1 year agoDetroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. (personal) is not traveling with the team to Baltimore to face the Ravens in Week 7 and has been ruled out for Sunday's game for personal reasons. Jones has been well off the fantasy radar this year in his return to Detroit, as he's caught just five passes on 10 targets for 35 yards and no touchdowns in six contests. The 33-year-old has been buried on the receiver depth chart behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, Jameson Williams and Kalif Raymond. His absence on Sunday shouldn't have a notable impact on the Lions offense one way or another in a tough matchup against the Ravens on the road.

Marvin Jones Jr. Opens Camp On Non-Football Injury List
2 years agoAccording to Lions head coach Dan Campbell, wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. (undisclosed) is on the non-football injury list. The 33-year-old inked a one-year deal to return to Detroit after playing in Jacksonville for the last two seasons. He finished with only 46 receptions for 529 yards and three touchdowns in 2022, some of the lowest marks of his career. That said, since the reason for Jones' absence hasn't been made public, it's unknown if he'll be ready for the 2023-24 campaign. However, he isn't expected to be a consistent fantasy producer even if he's on the field, although he should benefit from a Lions' high-powered offensive approach.

Marvin Jones Jr. Expected To Sign With Lions
2 years agoFormer Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is expected to sign a one-year, $3 million deal worth up to $5 million with the Detroit Lions, according to a source. Jones spent the last two years with the Jaguars, but before that he played in Detroit from 2016-20. In 16 regular season games (10 starts) for Jacksonville in 2022, he caught 46 of his 81 targets for 529 yards and three touchdowns, numbers that all represented his lowest marks since his rookie season in 2012 with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 33-year-old had his only 1,000-yard season with Detroit in 2017, but fantasy managers should probably expect numbers more in line with his 2022 campaign in 2023. Jones figures to see infrequent work in Detroit this time around behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and second-year wideout Jameson Williams.
