4 years agoCarolina Panthers tight end Dan Arnold has an exploitable matchup on tap against the Texans in Week 3. Arnold had a quiet Week 1 but was productive in a tough matchup against the Saints, exceeding 50 receiving yards. The big tight end did see his snap percentage tumble last week, though that could have been the product of game script. The Texans' defense has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this year. Fantasy managers in need of a tight end can turn to Arnold as a streaming option in Week 3.--Tim Capurso

3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars tight end Dan Arnold was one of 10 players from his squad placed on the league's Reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. Arnold was joined by fellow tight ends Luke Farrell and Chris Manhertz, leaving the team extremely thin at the position outside of James O'Shaughnessy if the trio are unable to clear protocols in time for Sunday's matchup with the Patriots. Arnold (knee) has been designated to return from injured reserve, not having taken the field since Week 12 due to a sprained MCL. The fourth-year tight end enjoyed a strong spell of performances from Weeks 5-10, amassing at least 60 receiving yards in four of his five outings. His placement on the Reserve/COVID-19 list likely keeps him on the periphery of season-long appeal for Week 17, although his absence could bump O'Shaughnessy into a starting spot in deeper formats or DFS lineups.--Jesse Borek

3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars tight end Dan Arnold (knee) was designated to return from the IR after battling through an MCL sprain. This starts the team's 21-day window to activate Arnold for game action, so there is no guarantee that he will suit up this weekend. Even if he does, James O'Shaughnessy is also active so the team will likely split snaps, which limits the impact of either one. Given how much the Jaguars' offense has struggled, neither player is a recommended fantasy option, even in a juicy matchup against the Jets. If Arnold doesn't play this week, O'Shaughnessy could be a DFS punt option but shouldn't be relied on in the fantasy playoffs.--Eric Samulski

3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer confirmed on Tuesday that the team placed tight end Dan Arnold (knee) on Injured Reserve with a sprained MCL. Arnold suffered the injury in the Week 12 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and will be out for four to six weeks. There's a good chance we may not see the 26-year-old back in 2021. He made his debut with Jacksonville in Week 4 after being acquired in a trade from the Carolina Panthers, and Arnold has caught 28 of his 41 targets for 324 yards and no touchdowns as the Jags primary pass-catching tight end. If you don't have the room to stash him in an IR spot in smaller leagues, Arnold can be sent to the waiver wire. James O'Shaughnessy and Chris Manhertz will see more playing time with Arnold sidelined. O'Shaughnessy should be the better TE2 target in deeper leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars tight end Dan Arnold (knee) will be sidelined for the next four to six weeks after suffering an MCL sprain. Based on the timeline for his return, it likely means that his season is over. James O'Shaughnessy made his return to the lineup in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons, so he will now be the clear No. 1 tight end for rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence moving forward. From Week 8 to Week 10, Arnold saw 25 targets and had 60-plus receiving yards in all three games, so O'Shaughnessy could have low-end TE1 appeal in fantasy down the stretch when you consider Lawrence's tendency to look for his tight ends. The 29-year-old could see similar usage to his Week 1 stat line in the next couple of games, where he caught six of eight targets for 48 yards.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBaller
