Luis Gil Fans Six In Saturday's Loss
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil failed to make it to the fifth inning for the third time in his last four starts in Saturday's loss to the Indians. Gil pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits while walking four batters. He struck out six. Gil generated an impressive 13 whiffs, eight of them on his slider, which has been an excellent pitch for him this season. Control issues have popped up lately for the 23-year-old, who has walked a whopping 16 batters in his last four starts. There's no doubting Gil's long-term ability or fantasy value, though it's hard to trust him in redraft leagues down the stretch with his less-than-stellar ratios.
