3 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies released starting pitcher Vince Velasquez (finger) on Tuesday and he is now a free agent. Velasquez was on the injured list and in the midst of a rehab assignment when he was designated for assignment this weekend, which meant that he couldn't be placed on waivers for other teams to claim. The 29-year-old had spent the last six years with the Phillies. He was having one of his worst seasons with the team this year as he had gone 3-6 with a 5.95 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 21 appearances (17 starts).--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
