Joe Ryan Effective Over Five Innings, Exits Start Early
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan (wrist) pitched well over five innings before exiting Tuesday's start after being hit on the wrist by a comebacker against the Indians. Ryan pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits while walking one. The young right-hander struck out five and generated nine whiffs, effectively utilizing his four-pitch mix. Ryan has allowed just four runs through his first 17 innings pitched while recording a 14:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. While the X-rays on the injury came back negative, the Twins are calling it a right wrist contusion, which could sideline the talented rookie for the remainder of the season.
