Lamar Jackson Not Actively Negotiating An Extension
3 years agoBaltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and the team have had positive and ongoing talks about a big contract extension, but league sources say that Jackson doesn't have an agent actively negotiating a new deal. Jackson is immersed in preparing for the season opener on Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders, which is why he and the team have yet to agree to an extension. Negotiations took a back seat through training camp and into the season, but both sides expect a deal to be completed eventually. The front office and coaching staff remains fully committed to signing Jackson to a long-term deal, and the star QB said he would "love to be here forever." The No. 32 overall pick in 2018 has won more games (30) than any other NFL QB since taking over as the team's starter midway through his rookie season in 2018. Jackson will likely sign a rich extension at some point this year. Baltimore's running back depth has been decimated by injuries before their first game, but Jackson remains a high-end QB1 for his dual-threat abilities on the field.
