Gleyber Torres Moving To Second Base
3 years agoNew York Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres will move from shortstop to second base for the remainder of the season. Torres has been a below average fielder this season, as he has made a career-worst 18 errors while posting a minus-eight figure in the Statcast metric 'Outs Above Average.' The move will make the 24-year-old the primary starter at the keystone with Gio Urshela moving to short. DJ LeMahieu will serve as the third baseman. Perhaps the defensive shift will revive Torres' bat, which has been extremely disappointing this season, as evidenced by his career-low .676 OPS in 438 plate appearances.
