ANALYSIS: Streaming catcher in fantasy baseball can sometimes feel like a fool's errand, but other times it can lead to hidden gems like Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk. The 22-year-old prospect has been a nice boost to an already lethal Toronto lineup late in the season, so much so he has been serving as the designated hitter in games where he can't be behind the plate.
Kirk is slashing .274/.355/.489 so far this season which ranks fifth, seventh, and eighth, respectively among catchers with at least 150 plate appearances. Kirk may be a rookie, but he looks like a veteran at the plate with his elite plate discipline. Kirk has a strong 18:15 K:BB this season and was always good in that regard as he never posted a strikeout rate higher than 16.1% in the minors. Putting the ball in play and getting on via the walk is a fantastic recipe for Kirk in this Toronto lineup. Kirk is getting plenty of at-bats, in a great lineup, and getting on base a ton; what more could you ask for from the catcher position during crunch time in fantasy baseball?
