David Johnson Could Have Sneaky PPR Value In Week 1
3 years agoHouston Texans running back David Johnson is stuck in a three-back committee ahead of a favorable Week 1 matchup against the Jaguars. Johnson played in just 12 games last year due to injuries, but was pretty effective when on the field, totaling 691 rushing yards along with 314 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, good for an RB21 finish. The veteran halfback likely won't repeat that production on the ground, though with the pass-catching role seemingly secured during camp and the preseason, he could be a factor in PPR formats starting in Week 1. The Jaguars defense allowed the 12th-most receptions to halfbacks in 2020, meaning Johnson could produce a decent line in Week 1, especially if the underdog Texans are playing from behind. He has flex appeal in deeper PPR leagues.
