Boston Red Sox infielder Bobby Dalbec didn't start today's game, but came on late to relieve Rafael Devers at third base after the Tampa Bay Rays took a commanding lead. He made the most of his two at-bats, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs. He's now slashing .356/.453/.844 with six home runs over his last 15 games, and is surely dragging some fantasy teams into the playoffs. He needs to be in the lineup every night for the Red Sox, and fantasy managers should follow suit.--Doug Goldring

The Chicago White Sox agreed to a minor-league deal with a non-roster invitation to major-league spring training on Tuesday with free-agent infielder Bobby Dalbec, according to the White Sox. Dalbec was originally a fourth-round pick by the Boston Red Sox in 2016 out of the University of Arizona. The 29-year-old right-handed power bat hit a career-high 25 home runs and drove in 78 runs in 133 games for Boston in his second year with the team, but he could never recapture that form and hit a combined 14 long balls in the last three seasons. In the last two years, Dalbec only appeared in 58 games at the big-league level and slashed .159/.234/.235 with a terrible .469 OPS, two home runs, nine RBI and 71 strikeouts in 146 plate appearances. He should have more of an opportunity to contribute at the major-league level with the Pale Hose, but he'll still be off the fantasy radar in 2025 fantasy drafts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Bobby Dalbec will start for the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, but not at his usual first base or designated hitter role. Instead, Dalbec will start in right field for the first time in his Major League Baseball career in place of the injured Wilyer Abreu (ankle) and will bat seventh in the order. Dalbec is slashing .132/.207/.170 with four RBI and three runs scored in 23 games. He has played the position before, having played 15 games in Triple-A in right field. The power potential for Dalbec is always there, but fantasy managers are best leaving him out of their lineup.--Brandon Williams - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox first baseman Bobby Dalbec has been optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday. The former top prospect has struggled during his time with the big league club. So far this season, Dalbec was limited to nine at-bats in which he struck out during six of those. Possibly, Dalbec returns to the MLB if he has a strong showing in the minors. Fantasy managers can continue ignoring Dalbec until further notice.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

After the Boston Red Sox signed veteran first baseman C.J. Cron to a minor-league deal this week, first baseman Bobby Dalbec's spot on the roster suddenly is insecure. The 34-year-old Cron has 187 home runs in 10 career major-league seasons. Dalbec spent most of last year toiling at Triple-A Worcester and he still has a minor-league option remaining. Pablo Reyes can also play all over the infield, including at first base, where he is getting more work in spring training, so he has much more versatility than Dalbec. Triston Casas is Boston's starting first baseman after he broke out offensively in 2023. The 28-year-old Dalbec was once a former top prospect in Boston's system, but it looks like they're moving on.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
