The New York Jets announced on Tuesday that they placed kicker
Greg Zuerlein (knee) and safety Chuck Clark (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve, so they will not be available to play in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the division-rival Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The team also signed defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis and linebacker Jamin Davis to the active 53-man roster, signed offensive lineman David Sharpe to the practice squad, signed kicker
Greg Joseph to the active roster and released kicker
Anders Carlson. The Jets activated Zuerlein from IR last week, but he didn't attempt a kick in the Week 17 loss to the division-rival Buffalo Bills and apparently had a setback with his left knee. The 37-year-old veteran made only nine of his 15 field-goal opportunities and went 13-for-14 on extra points when healthy, so he'll likely be cut this offseason.

Greg Zuerlein did not attempt any field goals or extra points in a 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 17. Zuerlein, who was activated from injured reserve earlier in the week after missing some time with a knee injury, stood by as the Jets attempted two-point conversions following their two touchdowns in the blowout loss. He will look for more work in the regular-season finale against the Miami Dolphins in Week 18.

Greg Zuerlein (knee) will be back in action for the Week 17 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Zuerlein hasn't played since being placed on the injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in Week 8. Before that, Zuerlein was struggling as he has only converted 9-of-15 field goal attempts while making all but one extra point attempt. The 37-year-old hopes to get back on track over the final two games of the regular season. Given his struggles this season, fantasy managers should probably look elsewhere for a streaming option in Week 17.

Greg Zuerlein (knee) on injured reserve. In response, they've signed kickers
Spencer Shrader and
Riley Patterson to their practice squad. Zuerlein popped up on the team's report Monday with a knee issue after another poor showing in Sunday's 25-22 loss to the New England Patriots. The 36-year-old missed another two kicks in Week 8 (one field goal, one extra point), and he'll now miss at least the team's next four outings. The long-time LA Ram has failed to connect on six field goal tries this season (9-of-15) and has mainly been unreliable for a reeling Jets squad. With New York set to host the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football, expect a decision to be made between Shrader and Patterson in short order.
