Javier Báez Remains Red Hot At The Plate
3 years agoNew York Mets shortstop/second baseman Javier Baez went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the Mets 4-3 loss to the Nationals on Monday. Báez is red-hot at the plate right now slashing .400/.444/.720 with two home runs, three RBI, eight runs scored, and one steal over his last seven games. Though he started slowly with the Mets following a deal at the July trade deadline which brought him over from the Chicago Cubs, Báez is hitting .273/.326/.534 with six home runs and 11 RBI for the Mets over 25 games. Notwithstanding poor plate discipline which includes a 35.1% strikeout rate and 3.9% walk rate, both in the bottom 1% of MLB, Báez will continue to help fantasy managers in the home run and RBI departments. Báez should remain active in all but the most shallow of fantasy formats, particularly while he is swinging a hot bat.
