Nelson Cruz Homers, Drives In Three Runs Monday
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 3-for-6 with a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored during Monday's 11-10 extra-inning win over the Boston Red Sox. He belted a solo shot off Adam Ottavino in the eighth inning to bring the Rays to within one run. The boomstick smacked a go-ahead RBI single in the 10th frame and drove in three runs altogether in Monday's win. It could have been even more of a massive day for Cruz if the original ruling on a fly ball that bounced off Red outfielder Alex Verdugo's glove in the fourth inning wasn't changed from a three-run triple to an error. Cruz is having another productive season in 2021, slashing .269/.340/.509 with 28 home runs, 77 RBI, and 69 runs scored across 120 games.
