Giovani Bernard Held Out Of Friday’s Practice
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Giovani Bernard (ankle) was held out of Friday's practice due to an ankle injury. He is dealing with what is being described as a "mild high-ankle sprain." The 29-year-old is expected to play in the regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Tampa Bay doesn't practice until Sunday, and the team will have a better idea then if Bernard can go. The former Cincinnati Bengal signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract after compiling 771 scrimmage yards in 2021, including 47 catches for 355 receiving yards. He has been a standout in training camp and is expected to have a vital role in the offense in 2021. Leonard Fournette would handle passing down situations and could see more of an increased role if Bernard cannot suit up in Week 1.
