Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans Among Top Landing Spots for Cam Newton
3 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans have interest in free agent quarterback Cam Newton, following the New England Patriots decision to cut him. This was a surprising cut, as Newton was the Patriots starting quarterback last season, and led his former team, the Carolina Panthers, to a Super Bowl berth. Newton looked more comfortable during preseason games in that offense compared to last season. Newton threw for 2,657 yards, eight touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and completed 65.8 percent of his passes. Newton has made it clear that there are not 32 quarterbacks better than him. His priority is to be a starter, which is the type of opportunity the Texans could provide, though the team is set to start Tyrod Taylor in 2021. On the other hand, the Cowboys will be in win-now mode, but Newton would back up Dak Prescott. The Cowboys concerns for Prescott's health could be put to rest if they are able to sign Newton.
