DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily Fantasy College Football (9/2/21)

Mike Marteny's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for 9/2/21. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win big.

We had a pretty good day in Week 0, but now things start to get interesting. College football has the entire stage to itself over Labor Day Weekend, and they take full advantage of it. We have DFS slates on Thursday, Friday, and a few on Saturday. We even have single-games on Wednesday, Sunday, and Monday for our degenerative entertainment! This is one of the greatest weekends of the year for college football fans like me!

DraftKings cherry picked us eight games for the Thursday slate. Eastern Washington and Southern Utah make what is likely their only DFS appearance of the season. We have a Big Ten (14) rumble between Ohio State and Minnesota. We have old faces in new places. We have new starters. We have tried and true DFS players. This slate features a little bit of everything and is going to be a fun one! Come on in!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/2/21. I’ll be providing multiple player suggestions for players at guard and forward, aiming to highlight one option apiece at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Quarterbacks

Jayden Daniels, Arizona State ($8,500)

This game is going to be a blowout, so there's a good chance that Daniels only plays around half the game. That limits his upside and makes him basically a cash-only option. He dazzled as a freshman in 2019, but looked to have regressed last year. Of course, when you only play four games, it's easy to spot regression. Daniels still took care of the ball and ran it well. I have a feeling that Arizona State is going to take his wheels away in this one. They wont need him to do the heavy lifting to win this game. That said, Daniels racked up 24.42 DraftKings points in the rout of Arizona last year. He can still put up good numbers even if he doesn't play the entire game.

Hank Bachmeier, Boise State ($6,500)

Not to be confused with Hank Azaria's foul-mouthed, substance-abusing baseball commissioner on a show that should still be on the air (Brockmire), Bachmeier has become known for reasons on the football field as well. Yes, Bachmeier is that dreaded "game manager," but that doesn't mean he's bad at it. This game has the potential to be high-scoring since both defenses struggled at times last year. UCF's did almost all season long. Boise's game plan is often run-heavy, but this passing game is sneaky good. Go check out the Utah State and Hawaii games last year. Bachmeier isn't going to break the slate, but against this defense, he should more than pay off this price.

Eric Barriere, Eastern Washington ($5,200)

The Eagles love to throw. Barriere threw 189 passes in just four games this spring. They are going to throw the ball around here in a game that the Eagles could win. UNLV has a quarterback controversy even without Ohio State and Miami transfer Tate Martell. It's hard to put too much stock into games against 1-AA schools, but Barriere looked the part. He racked up 1,491 yards in four games with 13 touchdowns. The UNLV defense might not be much better than Idaho, Idaho State, Cal Poly, and Northern Arizona anyway.

Also consider: Dillon Gabriel, Central Florida ($9,100); Devin Leary, North Carolina State ($6,800); Noah Vedral, Rutgers ($5,900)

DraftKings CFB DFS Running Backs

Rachaad White, Arizona State ($7,000)

White finished 2020 strong with 291 yards rushing on just 23 attempts over the last two games. He is explosive and a good receiver out of the backfield. He does a little bit of everything. That will be showcased against Southern Utah, at least until the starters are removed from the game. Mohamed Ibrahim is reasonably priced in a tough matchup and may prove a better play in cash games, but I think White does more for less against a clearly overmatched Thunderbirds squad.

Camerun Peoples, Appalachian State ($6,900)

With the news that Daetrich Harrington is out until the beginning of Fun Belt play, that makes Peoples an elite play. The last time we saw Peoples, he was abusing the not-so-Mean-Green of North Texas by gashing them for 317 yards rushing (on just 22 carries!) and five touchdowns. That kind of production breaks slates. ECU allowed a shade over 200 rushing yards per game last year. People will get close to all 200 of those since Chase Brice isn't nearly as much of a runner as his predecessor.

Charles Williams, UNLV ($5,900)

It's right in the name. The Rebels like to run. Only Wyoming and San Jose State, the two best defenses in the Mountain West, were able to hold Williams under 90 yards in a game last year. Williams isn't flashy, but he's a workhorse that should find plenty of room against this Eastern Washington defense. The Rebels want to control the clock to keep the ball away from the ECU offense. That means a lot of guaranteed work for Williams.

Tiyon Evans, Tennessee ($5,600)

The Tennessee backfield was big enough for both Ty Chandler and Eric Gray last year, so Evans being listed as the co-starter along with Jabari Small doesn't worry me too much. Evans had a great spring and has had glowing reviews leading up to the opener as well. We don't know how the carries will be split, just that they will be split. The Bowling Green defense was one of the worst on the planet at any level last year. Tennessee should run wild in this one. I have no issues using both running backs in this game.

Also consider: Mohamed Ibrahim, Minnesota ($8,600); Johnny Richardson, Central Florida ($6,300); Zonovan Knight, North Carolina State ($6,100); Dennis Merritt, Eastern Washington ($4,900)

DraftKings CFB DFS Wide Receivers

Khalil Shakir, Boise State ($6,900)

Receiver can be hard to get right early in the season. Some teams rarely pass in games that are blowouts. This promises to be a high-scoring game. While UCF spreads the ball around a lot and has a vacuum to fill with Marlon Williams and his 71 receptions gone. Jaylon Robinson might be that guy, but I'm going with the known commodity of Shakir. Shakir averaged almost 7.5 receptions per game last year and over 100 yards per contest. He's a slam dunk in cash games and has ample upside for GPP formats.

Chris Olave, Ohio State ($6,700)

Olave had 32 receptions for 441 yards and three touchdowns over the last four games last year, two of those being Clemson and Alabama. With the receiver corps mainly the same in Columbus, I'm comfortable taking the price reduction from Garrett Wilson to Olave. Wilson is the possession guy, but Olave is the guy that can put up huge numbers. There's a bit more risk here, but I'm comfortable with it. I trust that the offense behind C.J. Stroud will keep looking to Olave like they did at the end of 2020.

Kyle Williams, UNLV ($5,400)

The quarterback uncertainty has me a little worried, but sticking with my theme of going with known commodities at receiver, Williams is an obvious choice. He topped 100 yards twice in the last three games last year. UNLV scores a majority of their touchdowns on the ground, but those 23 receptions over the last three games helps make up for the lack of touchdowns. Williams had 21 more receptions than the second-leading receiver last year. If you use a UNLV receiver, Williams is your guy.

Jadan Blue, Temple ($4,700)

Blue missed time this spring after missing the last two games of last season, but he had 95 receptions during the 2019 season. That's a hell of a lot of free points at this price! Blue still caught 36 passes in his five games last season. If he can get those seven receptions here, that goes a long ways towards him paying off this price. Blue is by far Temple's leading receiver, and though they were mostly a running team last season, Re'Mahn Davis has moved on. With Blue fully healthy and trying to keep up with Rutgers, I expect a nice game from Blue.

Also consider: Jaylon Robinson, Central Florida ($8,600); Emeka Emezie, North Carolina State ($6,500); Chris Autman-Bell, Minnesota ($6,000); Tiaolo Limu-Jones, Eastern Washington ($5,000), Andre Johnson, Arizona State ($3,000)
