Xander Bogaerts Tests Positive For COVID-19
3 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts was removed from Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after testing positive for COVID-19. He went 1-for-1 with an RBI before exiting. The 28-year-old becomes the seventh Red Sox player to test positive within the past few days. Bogaerts is expected to be placed on the COVID injured list and could be out for 10 days. Red Sox infielders Enrique Hernandez and Christian Arroyo are currently on the COVID IL, leaving Boston short-handed in the infield. Yairo Munoz replaced Bogaerts on Tuesday and would see an uptick in playing time while he's out. Munoz is hitting just .100 (1-for-10) over five games in 2021.
