Corey Kluber Allows Five Runs In Return
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Corey Kluber struggled in his return to the rotation Monday against the Angels. Kluber pitched just four innings, surrendering five runs on five hits while walking a pair of batters. On the plus side, the veteran right-hander did strike out six batters and generated a strong 34 percent CSW. Kluber got through three innings unscathed but ran up his pitch count in the fourth frame- and the Yankees clearly wanted to be careful with his workload coming off of subscapularis muscle strain in his right shoulder. This performance was far from encouraging, but Kluber was a solid fantasy contributor earlier in the year, pitching to a 3.61 ERA with 61 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings pitched. He lines up to face the Orioles next, a matchup where fantasy managers should feel comfortable starting him, as he's racked up two wins while allowing just five runs in 12 2/3 innings.
