Sterling Shepard Catches Five Passes In Preseason Finale
3 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard caught five passes on six targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 22-20 loss to the New England Patriots. He led the team in catches on Sunday and tied with Alex Bachman for a team-high six targets. Shepard has had a strong training camp and could lead the team in receptions in 2021, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. He hauled in 66 receptions on 90 targets for 656 yards and three touchdowns while rushing six times for 49 yards and a touchdown over 12 games last season. Kenny Golladay is dealing with a hamstring issue and has missed valuable time in training camp; Shepard could have a vital role in the Giants' offense to start the season. The 28-year-old has WR5 upside and more value in PPR formats with his ability to rack up catches.
