Christian Arroyo Tests Positive For COVID-19
4 years agoBoston Red Sox infielder Christian Arroyo was already on the COVID list after being deemed a close contact of Kike Hernandez, and he has now tested positive for the virus. Arroyo is likely to be out for the next 10 days. With both Hernandez and Arroyo out, Jonathan Arauz and Yairo Munoz were recalled from Triple-A, but Arauz left Sunday's game with an injury. Danny Santana is expected to return from a rehab assignment shortly, and he and Munoz figure to split time at second base for the time being. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for updates.

Christian Arroyo Activated, Raimel Tapia Designated For Assignment
2 years agoThe Boston Red Sox activated infielder Christian Arroyo (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated outfielder Raimel Tapia for assignment in a corresponding move. Arroyo is back in the starting lineup on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays and left-hander Shane McClanahan, playing second base and batting ninth. The 28-year-old will return to a .257/.295/.365 slash line with a homer, 11 RBI, a stolen base and 12 runs scored in 74 at-bats this year. He'll mostly play the keystone for Boston against left-handers, making him mostly a fantasy option in AL-only leagues. Tapia could be playing elsewhere if he clears waivers. The 29-year-old outfielder has hit .264 (23-for-87) with four doubles, a triple, a homer, 10 RBI and six steals in 39 games this year for Boston.

Christian Arroyo Removed From Tuesday's Game
2 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo left Tuesday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles early after experiencing right hamstring tightness. According to Ian Browne of MLB.com, the move was just precautionary. Before his exit, he was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. On the season, Arroyo is slashing a paltry .189/.218/.245 with no homers, five runs, three RBI, and one steal over 19 games. If the 27-year-old is forced to miss time, fantasy managers can expect Enmanuel Valdez to see more playing time. The rookie only had four games under his belt before Tuesday and was a career .255 hitter with some power (.465 slugging) in the minors, but it's best for fantasy managers to find someone that doesn't have as much to prove.

Christian Arroyo On The Bench Monday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo is on the bench for the game on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles. It's the second straight day that Arroyo will start on Boston's bench after he returned to action on Saturday following a minor hamstring injury. With Arroyo out again, Enrique Hernandez will get another start at the keystone and will hit fifth against Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer. Yu Chang remains at the 6 and will hit ninth in the batting order. It appears that Arroyo has fallen out of favor a bit in the middle infield early on, as he's hitting just .189 (10-for-53) with three doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and five runs scored in his first 18 games.

Christian Arroyo Returning On Saturday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. He'll return to the lineup after missing each of the last four games due to a lingering hamstring issue. Arroyo was struggling at the bat before the injury, so maybe some time off has helped him find his groove. Regardless, he'll play second base and bat seventh against left-hander Wade Miley on Saturday.
