David Johnson Relegated To Third-Down Role At Camp
3 years agoHouston Texans running back David Johnson has been primarily utilized as a pass-catcher during practice. Listed as the team's third-string halfback, Johnson has taken a backseat to others in the running back room this preseason, particularly Phillip Lindsay and Mark Ingram II. The veteran finished the 2020 season strong, tallying over 100 scrimmage yards in each of his last three games with four touchdowns scored in that span, but the days of him approaching the All-Pro numbers he posted in 2016 are over. Johnson is currently the 40th running back off the board in drafts, though he could be hard-pressed to exceed or even return value at that price given the limited role he's likely to have.
