Austin Romine Hits First Homer
Austin Romine went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Colorado Rockies. Romine took Austin Gomber yard in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2 at the time. Romine has been hurt by injuries this year and has only had 29 at-bats for the season. With Willson Contreras (knee) nearing a return and Robinson Chirinos being more productive at the plate, Romine's future could be cloudy moving forward. He is now hitting .207 with one home run and two RBI.

Austin Romine Activated From Restricted List
Austin Romine from the restricted list on Thursday. The Cardinals also optioned outfielder Conner Capel, catcher Ivan Herrera and second baseman Cory Spangenberg to Triple-A Memphis. Romine was unavailable to play in a two-game series in Toronto this week against the Blue Jays because he's unvaccinated. With Yadier Molina (knee) still on the injured list while rehabbing in the minor leagues, Romine will return to serve as Andrew Knizner's backup for a weekend series against the Washington Nationals, which starts on Friday. In nine games for St. Louis, Romine is 3-for-22 with two walks and seven strikeouts.
