Mac Jones Has Best Practice Yet
Mac Jones had his best practice as a pro on Wednesday, as he completed 18 straight passes and finished 24-of-28 overall in joint drills with the New York Giants. The rookie has been impressive during preseason action, going 13-of-19 for 87 yards against the Washington Football Team, and 13-of-19 for 146 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. He has now been given a massive opportunity to show what he can do with Cam Newton sidelined for the next five days because of COVID-19 protocols, as the practice reps with the starters on offense and final preseason game will determine his role to start the season. Newton still seems to be the favorite to begin the year as the starting quarterback, but Jones figures to remain in the mix and potentially take over at some point. It will be hard for the New England coaching staff to keep the former Alabama star on the bench if Newton performs poorly, which he has shown to do in the past. Even if Jones takes over as starter, he would be at best a low-end QB2.

Titans Interested In Mac Jones, Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson and Mac Jones, according to Titans beat reporter Buck Reising. Tennessee is likely in search of a new starting quarterback after former second-round pick Will Levis posted a 2-10 record in 2024 behind 2,091 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Wilson and Jones were both first-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft and lasted just three seasons with the New York Jets and New England Patriots, respectively. The Titans could be looking to add competition to its quarterback room to pair with Levis, but there's also a chance the team will pick Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Mac Jones Has Mediocre Performance To Finish The Season
Mac Jones had a solid final game of the season in a 26-23 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He put up 20 completions on 32 attempts for 225 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a pick. The backup quarterback took over for the injured Trevor Lawrence back in Week 13 against the Houston Texans and has been up and down ever since. This performance was somewhere in between. He barely surpassed 200 yards in five quarters and turned the ball over yet again, but was able to find Parker Washington for another touchdown and get Brian Thomas Jr. over 100 yards receiving in a near victory. Mac Jones will most likely return to a backup role, whether with the Jaguars or another team, in the 2025 NFL season.

Mac Jones A Decent QB2 Against Reeling Colts
Mac Jones should be boosted slightly against the Indianapolis Colts this week given the number of quarterbacks expected to be out due to injury or rest. Given that the game is meaningless for both teams besides draft position, both teams will be playing for pride. That especially applies to a quarterback like Jones, who is on a bust trajectory after failing to meet his first-round expectations with the New England Patriots. This game could be a prove-it game for him to remain entrenched in a backup role or even find a starting role for a team in desperate need of a QB. The Colts allowed Drew Lock to have an otherworldly performance for the New York Giants last week, so it is possible that Jones also has a fantastic game. Jones is at least worth consideration in Week 18.

Mac Jones Tosses Two Touchdowns Against Titans
Mac Jones led the team to their fourth win of the season over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. He finished the game with 174 yards and two touchdowns on 15-for-22 throwing while adding six carries for 22 yards. Brian Thomas Jr. continues to be his favorite pass-catcher after receiving another 10 targets, but Jones spread the ball to six different people throughout the game. He'll likely remain under center for their final game against the Indianapolis Colts as he continues to audition for a bigger role in the future.
