Jordan Montgomery Notches Fifth Win
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery improved his record to 5-5 in Monday's win over the Braves. Montgomery pitched five innings of one-run ball, allowing a pair of hits while walking four. He struck out only two batters. Control was an issue for the southpaw, as he fired just 41 of 75 pitches for strikes while issuing a season-high four walks. Still, Montgomery did enough to come away with the victory and has now surrendered just four runs in 9 2/3 innings since coming off of the COVID-19 injured list. The Yankees have limited him to 78 and 75 pitches in his first two starts, clearly watching his workload, though his stamina should only improve from start to start. He makes for a solid play in his next outing against Oakland, who he held to one run over 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts in their first meeting this year.
