DeVonta Smith Debuts With Two Catches On Thursday
3 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith made his NFL debut (in a preseason game) on Thursday evening against the New England Patriots. Smith ended up catching two passes on four targets, gaining 19 yards. He dropped his first two targets, perhaps not making the best first impression, but then again they were passes from backup quarterback Joe Flacco, who wasn't hitting anyone in the hands at all. Still, Eagles fans likely wanted to see more from their first-rounder. Coming off an MCL injury, Smith seemed fully healthy and could immediately operate as the WR1 for Philly when the season starts.
