Tampa Bay Rays first baseman/outfielder Jordan Luplow (ankle) landed on the injured list with a left ankle sprain on Thursday. However, manager Kevin Cash said they're hoping that a few days off will help, and he shouldn't be out long. Luplow was traded from the Cleveland Indians at the trade deadline but has just a .400 OPS since joining the Rays. On the year, he is slashing .161/.317/.390 with seven home runs in 46 games. He doesn't have much fantasy relevance but can be streamed against right-handers, with his .474 slugging off of righties this season.--Spencer Seguin

The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent outfielder Jordan Luplow to a minor-league deal on Wednesday. Luplow played in 39 games at the major-league level in 2023 with the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins, going 16-for-77 (.208) with two home runs and five RBI in 90 plate appearances. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter has played in seven seasons in the majors and has a career .212/.314/.423 slash line with 47 home runs, 125 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 132 runs scored in 361 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Guardians, Tampa Bay Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks, Blue Jays and Twins. Luplow will hope to win a major-league roster spot out of spring training for the Braves, but at best, he'll be an outfield bench bat.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Toronto Blue Jays have designated outfielder Jordan Luplow for assignment following the club's acquisition of shortstop Paul DeJong from the St. Louis Cardinals. Relief pitcher Matt Svanson, the return in exchange for DeJong, was assigned to Double-A in an additional roster move on Tuesday. Luplow, 29, got into just seven games with the Blue Jays this season, going 3-for-14 with three walks and eight strikeouts across 17 trips to the plate. He's spent the bulk of the season with Triple-A Buffalo, hitting .239 with eight homers, two stolen bases, and a .779 OPS across 48 games on the season. Luplow has specialized in hitting left-handed pitching in the big leagues, posting a career .833 OPS, .271 isolated power, and a .352 wOBA against lefties across 520 trips to the plate.--Brenton Kemp

The Athletic's David O'Brien reported Monday that Atlanta Braves outfielder Jordan Luplow (oblique) has been slowed by oblique soreness early in spring camp. The 29-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Braves this off-season. While he is a strong defensive player, Luplow slashed just .176/.274/.361 with 11 home runs, 28 RBI, and five steals in 234 plate appearances last season. The Braves already have a number of potential outfield options, including Marcel Ozuna and Eddie Rosario. Luplow's low batting average and lack of upside in counting stats limit his fantasy value, and a potential injury would further diminish his chances of seeing playing time.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

The Atlanta Braves and free-agent outfielder Jordan Luplow agreed to a one-year, $1.4 million deal Monday, per MLB.com's Mark Bowman. The Braves attempted to acquire the 29-year-old in 2022 via trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but they opted not to move him. Luplow is a strong defensive player but slashed just .176/.274/.361 with 11 home runs, 28 RBI and five steals in 234 plate appearances last season. While the Braves outfield is still up in the air, Luplow's low batting average and lack of upside in counting stats limit his fantasy value, even if he were to see consistent plate appearances.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
