George Springer Lands On IL With Knee Sprain
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (knee) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left knee sprain, according to Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic. Springer was held out of the lineup on Sunday with what was originally believed to be an ankle issue after suffering the injury on Saturday. It had been reported that he was making improvements on Monday, but now according to manager Charlie Montoyo there's no set timetable for his return to action. This is a big blow to his value in what has been an injury-plagued season in 2021, in which he's been limited to 49 games where he's slashing .269/.362/.610 with 16 homers, two steals, 35 RBI and 40 runs scored. Managers should stash him on the injured list, but be prepared for him to not return in time to make an impact in fantasy this year.
